Chris Rivas
BIOGRAPHY
Unleashing the Graffiti-Infused Artistic Revolution
Chris Rivas emerges from the intertwined histories of graffiti and skate culture, bringing a practice shaped by the visual language of the street and a disciplined engagement with materials. Working across paint markers, spray paint, ink, and mixed media, he constructs compositions that balance immediacy with intention, allowing process and gesture to remain visible within the finished work.
Rivas’s practice operates in the space where street-based expression and contemporary fine art intersect. His work retains the urgency and physicality of graffiti while situating itself within a broader art-historical and institutional context. Rather than abandoning his roots, Rivas extends them—testing new techniques, scales, and surfaces as a means of expanding his visual vocabulary. This ongoing evolution positions his work as both reflective of urban experience and forward-looking, signaling an artist attentive to the shifting boundaries of contemporary art and committed to redefining how those boundaries are understood.
